Weekender Fun Part 2

Same deal as the first one... although this is probably not as noteworthy.

Friday April 22nd

Alright so it was Conor, Garrett, and I in the same vehicle and Devin driving separately with all of our crap plus another party member. We were once again going to the world famous Reggie's 42nd Street Tavern in Wilmington, NC. I think I ate two chicken sandwiches on the way there. Also we stopped at a Circle K and someone (surprisingly not myself I suppose) had defecated all over a toilet. Looked pretty bad but I can say just by looking at it that I've been through worse. We arrived at Reggie's. The Mongerz played. They were a two piece. They played some Green Day songs. Their original songs had a lot of guitar solos. Then we played. Then Hyperloops played. They played Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult. Their original songs had a lot of guitar solos too. Then Busted Radio played. The guitar player and singer fella looks like Keith Urban and Tom DeLonge mixed together in a human mixing bowl. We ate at Waffle House after. No Preach.

Saturday April 23rd

We were back home and playing at the world famous Island Bar and Grill. For most of the day I sat on the couch and read Alpha Flight. Well like the 1997 relaunch of the series. I arrived at Island Bar and ate a sandwich. Most of the show I hung out with Lil Ramen aka Young Minivan. Good ole Spider Bucket played. Then Abrevity played. And then ColorBlind Dinosaurs played. Shout out to Pops he's a cool guy. Oh and then we played and I lost my Professional Arm Wrestling Guild Championship to Garrett. I'll have it back one day. I went home shortly after.

Sunday April 24th

Same car situation as Friday but this time we were headed to the world famous Tua Lingua in Charleston. Turns out Primo Hoagie's and Jack's Cosmic Dogs close fairly early on Sundays so we went to probably the most disappointing McDonald's I've been to in a long time. And then we got to the place. Crunch for Time played. Shout out to their drummer Jake because he looks like my buddy Nick. TV Moms played. And then we played. And then Never Any Ordinary played. Obviously check out all the bands mentioned but definitely check out Never Any Ordinary and their new album. We ate some place called Nick's afterwards and I had an above average cheesesteak. Good on Nick's.

That's pretty much all that happened. I mean I may have left out other stuff just because I dunno you had to be there or whatever. Anyways check out all the bands. Go to shows. Here's a picture:

The Devin Tour Diary 2023

I spent the majority of the month of November on tour playing bass with Tourneforte. I had a great time and I’m going to recap it to the best of my ability on here. In true Windleyhub fashion, I am not proofreading this.  Day One: Camp Transylvania, Greenville SC  We kicked off the tour in Greenville SC at the third annual Camp Transylvania. This was the third and final day of the fest. We played right after our friends in the North Carolina band Condado, who are super tight and entertaining. We took the stage at 5PM. I usually remember to take my hat and glasses off when I perform since I move around a lot. I forgot to on this occasion, and my glasses flew off my face onto the stage where I at some point stepped on them. After the set, I helped load out gear and had Andrew pick me up to meet with our good friends Justin and Meleah at a Halloween party their friends were having. We got to meet some cool people all in various degrees of corpsepaint, including the legendar...

The Reel World with Devin #3: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)

Hollywood just doesn’t stop! Cranking out shit that is! Remakes, remakes, remakes disguised as sequels, sequels disguised as remakes, and so on. I just watched the newest attempt (that’s what we’ll call it) of the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre available on Netflix. And you better believe my expectations were low.  I've only seen the first two of these movies from the 70s. I know there’s at least 10 of them at this point. Pretty sure the first two are among the only ones worth watching, but I could be mistaken. In this 2022-ized version, a group of influencers (this word makes me want to barf every time I read it, let alone type it) decide to drive their Tesla into the ghost town of Harlow Texas so they can transform it into a trendy gentrified hellhole for them and a bus full of their social media buddies. Awful, right? I’m just getting started. There are four main characters but the two that survive most of this movie are Melody and Lila. They're sisters and Melody wants to be...

Garrett’s Squat Tunes Review #2- Kid Rock ft. Monster Truck “Don’t Tell Me How To Live”

Let’s face it. The past few years have been pretty lame.. AND pretty tame. In a time of censorship, sensitivity, and an overall lack of attitude, no genre has suffered more in my opinion than rock and roll. Who is the biggest rock and roll band of 2021? Greta Van Fleet? IMAGINE DRAGONS? Please. Give me real rock and roll. Well, when we needed him most, dawning his signature red satin jumpsuit, our Detroit born and raised, Devil without a cause savior Kid Rock, along with newcomers Monster Truck, pulled through for us with the most ROCKIN’ single of the year. “Don’t Tell Me How To Live”.  The song starts with a simple, yet high throttle guitar riff that really gets the juices flowing. Along with the hook sang by Mr. Monster Truck himself “Ain’t nooooooobody gonna tell me how to liiiiive!” Off to a great start. The song starts with a strong message to all the snowflakes; “Fuck all you hoes! Detroit 'til I die, motherfucker! Talkin' all that bullshit!” Let’s go. Lyrically, Rock is...
