Weekender Fun

Yo yo yo. Just got back from a weekend of great shows with our pals in Pnltybx and Lunchbox Hero. I can home smelling so so bad my god. I'll try to recount this weekend's events to the best of my abilities. Also if you haven't figured out who writes a majority of these things... it's me Andrew so this will mainly be my perspective and also I already put very low effort in editing any of these posts so this will be no different. Imagine this is just a very long text from your ol' pal Andy Dandy.

Friday April 8th

I arrived at Garrett's house starving. I have this very unhealthy habit of not eating all day and then feasting in the evening so I arrived at the coach's house already agitated. Fortunately I was riding with Conor so my stress levels were to be kept super low and the other two dopes drove around with all of our stuff. We were headed to Wilmington, North Carolina to the famous Reggie's 42nd Street Tavern. I'd been at this venue several years ago to watch one of the strangest shows featuring a DJ, a cock rock band, a super pop punk band, and another band from Australia. We were supposed to arrive at I believe 6 pm but that's actual what time Conor and I arrived at McDonald's which to my surprise were still serving Shamrock Shakes even though St. Patrick's Day had passed so long ago. I ordered two. We soon did arrive at the venue and reunited with our pals in Lunchbox Hero and Spider Bucket. It was very precious. Also we met Pnltybx in person for the first time as I had only talked to them over Zoom on a special episode of WindleyMania. I met a lot folks at Reggie's who were all very pleasant. Shout out to Vincent the sound fella and someone named Fountain I believe. After the show we went to Waffle House where we met Preach. Preach was our waiter and I assume was a veteran based off of his many military related patches on his uniform. Preach was also aptly named as he spent probably 15 minutes taking our order while reminding us about the broken world we live in the most hysterical way possible. After that we went back to Garrett's and fell asleep to the magic of the late Baba the Cosmic Barber.

Saturday April 9th

I turned 24 years old and our next stop was Charlotte to the famous Milestone Club. We had played there last October at the Welcome to the Family Fest which proved to be an interesting experience. The driving situation was the same as yesterday and remained the same for the rest of the weekend. We arrived in Charlotte at our first stop: Pinky's Westside Grill where we met up with Pnltybx and Lunchbox Hero. We first went to Pinky's with the late and great Chris Garges when we finished recording our first EP. I still order the same thing every time. A ding dong chicken sandwich. I ordered two. After that we arrived at the Milestone Club. We were all cold and stayed by space heater during the hours leading up to the show. The Word Around Town also played. Pretty cool. After the show Conor and I hung out in a taco bell line for an hour. We stayed at a house that another band lived in or something. I don't remember the band's name. Or the people's names. But they were very nice. The one guy looked like Bruce Campbell.

Sunday April 10th

We woke up and headed to Sheetz for a breakfast. We were then headed to Raleigh to the famous Schoolkids Records store. On the way there it was finally time for me to defecate. It was very righteous. We met up at Schoolkids and then went to a Guitar Center to watch Conor purchase drum sticks. They had a lot of instruments. We were then back at Schoolkids. We played a show here before in February of 2020. I had a hat on then. I looked around the store but didn't find anything I wanted but it's still a neat place. We met another band called Contact Comfort. I fist bumped Tim around 8 times. We then ate a place called DP Dough who had calzones. I ordered two. We stayed at Ben's house and met his dogs: Eric, Alice, and Computer. One of them was very horny for Conor's sleeping bag. I fell asleep watching wrestling.

Monday April 11th

The Dope-Mobile had already left and then Conor and I left. I watched Conor suck on a fat burrito at Sheetz. I arrived home and showered. I read some comics and watched some TV.

And that was this weekend. Fairly painless. Would do it again. Here's a picture...

The Devin Tour Diary 2023

I spent the majority of the month of November on tour playing bass with Tourneforte. I had a great time and I’m going to recap it to the best of my ability on here. In true Windleyhub fashion, I am not proofreading this.  Day One: Camp Transylvania, Greenville SC  We kicked off the tour in Greenville SC at the third annual Camp Transylvania. This was the third and final day of the fest. We played right after our friends in the North Carolina band Condado, who are super tight and entertaining. We took the stage at 5PM. I usually remember to take my hat and glasses off when I perform since I move around a lot. I forgot to on this occasion, and my glasses flew off my face onto the stage where I at some point stepped on them. After the set, I helped load out gear and had Andrew pick me up to meet with our good friends Justin and Meleah at a Halloween party their friends were having. We got to meet some cool people all in various degrees of corpsepaint, including the legendar...

The Reel World with Devin #3: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)

Hollywood just doesn’t stop! Cranking out shit that is! Remakes, remakes, remakes disguised as sequels, sequels disguised as remakes, and so on. I just watched the newest attempt (that’s what we’ll call it) of the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre available on Netflix. And you better believe my expectations were low.  I've only seen the first two of these movies from the 70s. I know there’s at least 10 of them at this point. Pretty sure the first two are among the only ones worth watching, but I could be mistaken. In this 2022-ized version, a group of influencers (this word makes me want to barf every time I read it, let alone type it) decide to drive their Tesla into the ghost town of Harlow Texas so they can transform it into a trendy gentrified hellhole for them and a bus full of their social media buddies. Awful, right? I’m just getting started. There are four main characters but the two that survive most of this movie are Melody and Lila. They're sisters and Melody wants to be...

Garrett’s Squat Tunes Review #2- Kid Rock ft. Monster Truck “Don’t Tell Me How To Live”

Let’s face it. The past few years have been pretty lame.. AND pretty tame. In a time of censorship, sensitivity, and an overall lack of attitude, no genre has suffered more in my opinion than rock and roll. Who is the biggest rock and roll band of 2021? Greta Van Fleet? IMAGINE DRAGONS? Please. Give me real rock and roll. Well, when we needed him most, dawning his signature red satin jumpsuit, our Detroit born and raised, Devil without a cause savior Kid Rock, along with newcomers Monster Truck, pulled through for us with the most ROCKIN’ single of the year. “Don’t Tell Me How To Live”.  The song starts with a simple, yet high throttle guitar riff that really gets the juices flowing. Along with the hook sang by Mr. Monster Truck himself “Ain’t nooooooobody gonna tell me how to liiiiive!” Off to a great start. The song starts with a strong message to all the snowflakes; “Fuck all you hoes! Detroit 'til I die, motherfucker! Talkin' all that bullshit!” Let’s go. Lyrically, Rock is...
